Initial Ideas
I have decided to call my magazine COCO because of the connotations linked to the designer Chanel, which is a massive brand that would appeal to my audience, and hopefully would be the sort of brand that would advertise in my magazine. The brand is very well thought of and advertised very successfully to show a glamorous desirable lifestyle, it also uses the city of Paris as the set for a lot of its tv commercials which connotes the sort of lifestyle my audience might aspire to as it is considered the art and fashion capital of the world. Also the shapes of the letters are all similar and as they are round it makes the whole title more aesthetically pleasing. However to make the link clear I will use a calligraphy font and hand write the title. To fit with the conventions of magazines similar to mine I have chosen to have the title almost equal to the width of the page as magazines like; Vogue, Love and dazed & confused all adopt this method.

My magazine is going to be music and fashion monthly, aiming at middle classes aged 16-26, mostly students, I would imagine art student, living in big cities
For my front cover I will be adopting this them, as the main character I will be using as my singer is going to be called ‘the sergeant’ I am going to have her dressed femininely with a military hat to go with the theme of military as magazines often adopt the style of a specific artist if they are the one featured on the cover for example when magazines feature cast members of twilight they adopt a vampire theme or with harry potter cast they often use a magic theme. I think the contrast between the masculine and feminine is really effective.
While I am featuring a woman as the main content of my magazine I want it to appeal to both genders and want fashion males to feel as though they are being catered for in my magazine in both clothes and music.
I think I am going to use studio and live shots in my magazine because I feel it is more realistic to a music magazine to include images of live acts to demonstrate a variation of music in the magazine and a variation in journalistic skills.
