College magazine questionnaire
From my questionnaire I can see that only 5% of the sample even read the magazine which showed that to start with we were going to have to raise awareness of the magazine so people will read it, otherwise there is no point in doing the research into what the audience would like to see in the magazine if no one is going to see it.
Also 75% of the audience said they would be unwilling to pay for the paper, so we are going to have to look at ways of making the potential customer feel it is worth parting with their money in order to make profit on them. The 25% that would agree to pay would only pay 50p for the magazine so obviously they don’t see it as something very important.
The things people were most interested in reading about are;
Upcoming events
Facebook updates
Gigs and Cinema (review)
It was also shown that the audience were uninterested in things like Sudoku and history of the college. It is important tht we take these things into account when planning our contents page and front cover because it is key that in both of these things we address the ideology of the target audience and make sure we are demonstrating things that they would be interested to read about.
They also showed that they thought the magazine needed more images and colour to make it more appealing so the Content and language codes will have to be looked at to ensure that they are suitable to the target audience, who are mainly college students.
Also the majority said that they didn’t think that the magazine should be issued more than once a month, presumably because they don’t think there is enough interesting activity to warrant a weekly issue, which I agree with, if we did one every week, we would end up writing about things that no one really cares about.
However I think the most important thing is that we raise the profile of the magazine, make it something that people look forward to something they will be queuing up to get an issue of.
